The turning key was the biggest addition to Car Wars. It freed us from the grid. Be that as it may, those blank Car Wars maps were very easy to customize into your own arena. I am very thankful that Steve Jackson Games has released many of the 2nd edition files as .pdfs. One thing they lack though is blank maps.
I had recreated my own (being a Graphic Designer made it somewhat easier) for use with my custom maps like the Dome. Unfortunately with a recent corruption of my Car Wars data files I lost the blank map grid (and everything else). Realizing that my time line, and the AADA Guide to Uni, Iowa were not gone forever because I shared them here with you, I decided to do the same with my recreated 21″x32″ blank, gridded, map. The map is set up on a 21.5’x32.5′ sheet, so those of you with access to large format printing have a bit of bleed for paper grab arms.
A recent design job required a 24″x36″ grid for 4 maps. The .pdf is below. That is set up on 24.5″x36.5″ for a bit of bleed and trim.

Saw it linked on twitter – very cool! I’ve been taking the pdfs and resizing them to fit my graphics for my PBEM (now run via Slack) – but I might just have to try and recreate some of my old personal designs… 😉
