This Pop Culture Reference of Wizard101 was suggested to me as a Star Trek reference. However it goes deeper than that.
Colonel Romulus, the Cyclops Centurion, stands guard outside of Akilles’ Tower on Cyclops Lane; however this particular cyclops is not as aggressive as his brethren, and does not attack you. He enlists your help.
As much as I would love for this to be a Star Trek pop culture reference, it is not. Romulus, home to the Romulans of Star Trek, is also a reference to the Colonel’s inspiration; Romulus of Roman mythology.

Traditional scholarship says the wolf-figure is Etruscan, 5th century BC.
In Roman mythology, Romulus and Remus are twin brothers whose story tells of the events that led to the founding of the city of Rome and the Roman Kingdom by Romulus, following his fratricide of Remus. The image of a she-wolf suckling the twins in their infancy has been a symbol of the city of Rome and the ancient Romans since at least the 3rd century BC. Although the tale takes place before the founding of Rome around 750 BC, the earliest known written account of the myth is from the late 3rd century BC. Possible historical bases for the story, and interpretations of its various local variants, are subjects of ongoing debate.

Romulus and Remus were born in Alba Longa, one of the many ancient Latin cities near the future site of Rome. Their mother, Rhea Silvia, was a vestal virgin and the daughter of the former king, Numitor, who had been displaced by his brother Amulius. In some sources, Rhea Silvia conceived them when their father, the god Mars, visited her in a sacred grove dedicated to him.
The next photo of Romulus and Remus is an, Altar to Mars (divine father of Romulus and Remus) and Venus (their divine ancestress) depicting elements of their legend. Tiberinus, the Father of the Tiber and the infant twins, Romulus and Remus being suckled by a she-wolf in the Lupercal are below. A vulture from the contest of augury and Palatine hill are to the left.

Shown in museum of Palazzo Massimo alle Terme (Rome).
Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references but I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
