Private Farnsworth

A Royal Expeditionary Force trooper, Private Farnsworth needs someone to break the enemy’s lines to allow reinforcements to get through.

It has been suggested that Private Farnsworth is a nod and a wink to Professor Farnsworth of the FOX TV series, Futurama.

The cast of Futurama
Professor Farnsworth

Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth (born April 9, 2841), better known as Professor Farnsworth, Professor or just Farnsworth, is the chief executive officer and a shareholder of Planet Express and the tetragonist of Futurama. He is pushing the limits of even the 31st Century at an agе of well over 160. Professor Farnsworth is one of six living relatives of series lead, Philip J. Fry.

However I do believe that both characters are a reference to this man, American inventor, Philo Farnsworth.

I’m not sure why we’re getting this much coverage in a Wizard101 article.
Philo Farnsworth and his invention

Philo Taylor Farnsworth (August 19, 1906 – March 11, 1971) was an American inventor and television pioneer. He made many crucial contributions to the early development of all-electronic television. He is best known for his 1927 invention of the first fully functional all-electronic image pickup device (video camera tube), the image dissector, as well as the first fully functional and complete all-electronic television system. Farnsworth developed a television system complete with receiver and camera—which he produced commercially through the Farnsworth Television and Radio Corporation from 1938 to 1951, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references but I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
