Ballard, OK Map #12 – A Car Wars Supplement

Map 12 of 12 for Ballard, OK

60 – Ballard County Oil – 402 Ballard Road.  THIS is why the gang took over the town and why Hambone knew that Ballard needed some muscle to keep the remaining citizens safe..  The pump is still going strong.  It is still producing nearly 10-12 barrels a day.  The oil field is protected by a 20’ tall, reinforced concrete wall (50 DP) with universal turrets at the corners.  The driveways are protected by the same type of mines that protect the CoOp.  There is also a rather large moat that encircles the field.  Signs posted very prominently warn passersby not to feed or annoy the gators in the moat.  Only a native Okie will know that alligators cannot survive in Oklahoma.  However, the animatronic gators that Mary brought back with her will convince non-natives to steer clear.

The compound consists of:

60-A The main building 10 DP; office, living quarters, and truck maintenance.  The building is 25’ tall.  The front office part of the building is 2 stories with apartments on the second floor.  The truck maintenance section has 4 repair bays and can handle four semi tractors or 10-wheel trucks at a time.  The bays directly opposite each other on the north and south can be used by 30’ or 40’ busses/RVs or a tractor/trailer combo.  The 4 metal doors at each bay have 15’ of clearance.  The doors are 4 DP.  If they are open when a firefight breaks out on the property, they will begin to close at the rate of 1 foot every second.  Each door will take 15 turns to completely close.

60-B The Marauder’s and Mary’s shared SECURE climate-controlled warehouse, (10 points of metal armor over stone construction [25 DP] with climate control metal interior [another 5 points of metal armor]).  The warehouse has four unloading docks; 3 on the east side and one on the north.  The three on the east are for tractor trailer unloading and the one on the north is intended for 10-wheel trucks so as not to block the south entrance of Damian’s Way (though in a pinch a tractor/trailer could unload here as well.  Each docking bay door has 15’ of clearance.  The doors are 10 DP.  If they are open when a firefight breaks out on the property, they will begin to close at the rate of 1 foot every second.  Each door will take 15 turns to completely close.

60-C Barracks (6 DP) two stories for single workers.  28 identical studio apartments.

60-D Guard houses are built on top of the wall overlooking each entrance (guard towers are sandwich composite 20 pts regular armor 10 pts metal and 20 pts regular)

60-E The well head (surrounded by 20 DP concrete wall)

60-F Three 50,000-gallon storage tanks (30 pts metal armor).

And two artillery units per Truck Stop

The pumps and well are manned by the same folks (and their descendants) that operated the well before the Second Civil War.  The Marauders have convinced them to stay by making their lives as comfortable as possible and by making examples of those who have thought to go against Monty’s wishes.

All though Mary and the gang do make use of the warehouses at Cromwell’s (#17).  That compound is obviously secured and has warehouse space.  Minor treasures and items are stored at Cromwell’s, major small treasures are stored in the bank vault.  Perishable foodstuffs and other treasures are stored here.

The oil field defenses walls (50 DP) have a draw bridge (10 seconds to raise or lower, 15 pts of metal armor if raised) at each of the four entrances, turreted blast cannons on each corner plus 8 VMG bunkers on the walls 2 on each wall spaced apart.  The tanker fleet is parked in the truck parking area 5 tankers, 4 18-wheelers, and 1 10-wheeler.

Ballard continues on the maps of the I44 interchange.
