Emperor Pontus is the ruler of the Crustaceans. Wizards find him with Thurston Plunkett, the leader of the Marleybonian expedition. They are not on the main map and can be found in the room behind the teleporters.
In Greek mythology, Pontus was an ancient, pre-Olympian sea-god, one of the Greek primordial deities. Pontus was Gaia’s son and has no father; according to the Greek poet Hesiod, he was born without coupling.
For Hesiod, Pontus seems little more than a personification of the sea, by which ancient Greeks meant the Mediterranean Sea. After the castration of his brother, Uranus, Pontus, with his mother Gaia, fathered Nereus (the Old Man of the Sea), Thaumas (the awe-striking “wonder” of the Sea, embodiment of the sea’s dangerous aspects), Phorcys and his sister-consort Ceto, and the “Strong Goddess” Eurybia. With the sea goddess Thalassa (whose own name simply means “sea”), he fathered the Telchines and all sea life.
The current list of all the (known) Celestia references are located here.
Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references, I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
