Nerys Barbed Heart

This Spiny Spriggan is being controlled by Keeper Yartek, and Sorcerers will need to free her from his will during their Level 75 Minion Quest The Barbed Heart.

Alas, valiant Wizard, I have been compelled to slay any who enter here by the mad raider Keeper Yartek. I’ll not spare you!

Nerys Barbed Heart

As much as I wanted this to be a Deep Space Nine reference (Kira Nerys, Bajoran Freedom Fighter), I do believe this is the reference intended.

Nerys Ann Jones was born and brought up in Bow Street, Cardiganshire. After graduating with honor in Welsh at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1983, she started her research on Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr, and joining the Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies in Aberystwyth two years later.

Arthur in Early Welsh Poetry – Nerys Ann Jones

“those who do not know of the Brindled Ox, with its stout collar,
[and] seven score links in its chain.
And when we went with Arthur, wretched journey,
save seven [men], none returned from Mand[d]wy Fort.”

  • Preidu Annwn

This is not a book about the historicity of King Arthur, writes Nerys Ann Jones in the introduction. Neither does it scrutinize the rise in Arthurian literature in Medieval Wales, but examines all the references to Arthur in early Welsh poetry and provides the reader with the necessary means to interpret them.

The current list of all the (known) Avalon references are located here.

Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references, I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
