The Frog Prince

The Frog Prince is a creature in Drawrven mythology brought to life by the breaking of the Athanor Chain. Lord of the Humongish Frogs, it waits. The Lord of the Fly-Eaters, it sits on the world. In its ribbit you can hear the end of all things. Then it will puke forth a new world.

“The Frog Prince; or, Iron Henry” (German: Der Froschkönig oder der eiserne Heinrich, literally “The Frog King or the Iron Henry”) is a German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm and published in 1812 in Grimm’s Fairy Tales (KHM 1). Traditionally, it is the first story in their folktale collection.

In the tale, a spoiled princess reluctantly befriends the Frog Prince, whom she met after dropping a golden ball into a pond under a linden tree, and he retrieves it for her in exchange for her friendship. The Frog Prince, who is under a wicked fairy (or sorcerer)’s spell, magically transforms back into a handsome prince. In the original Grimm version of the story, the frog’s spell was broken when the princess threw the frog against the wall, at which he transformed back into a prince, while in modern versions the transformation is triggered by the princess kissing the frog (a motif that apparently first appeared in English translations).

The Quest “Lord Humongish” is where your wizard fights the Frog Prince. This is a reference to the character Lord Humungus from the film “The Road Warrior”

Lord Humungus, officially in the script as “The Humungus,” or occasionally known as “Humungus,” was the leader of a merciless and psychotic motorcycle gang of marauders that took dominance long after Toecutter’s gang. He acts as one of the main antagonists in the events of Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. He is portrayed by Kjell Nilsson.

Humungus formed and led a gang of marauders, bikers, berserkers and generally crazy individuals; androgyny is widely exhibited by a significant portion of the group. He commands this otherwise unruly cabal, using a combination of intimidation and violence, on an indefinite campaign to steal valuable commodities – killing anyone who gets in their way. Due to their dependence upon a moderately sized fleet of assorted vehicles, their main focus is petrol. When knowledge of a functional oil refinery reached their gang, Humungus sought to take over the pump and siphon all the petrol they could carry. Unlike his vicious underlings, who want to storm the compound and take over, Humungus shows an eloquent, reasonable side, and tries to convince its inhabitants to surrender peacefully, promising that no harm will come to them if they do. Anyone who attempts escape risks capture, torture (for information) and death. However, two of the compound’s occupants defy this threat and in their subsequent (failed) escape attempt, ultimately attract the attention of Max Rockatansky; a former police officer, turned drifter, living off the corpse of the old world. This would ultimately lead to the downfall of Humungus and the presumed disbanding of his gang, as Max takes it upon himself to help the compounders escape, with their tanker of petrol.
