Nitpicking Star Trek Voyager and Deep Space Nine – The Ankari

The Ankari are a spacefaring humanoid civilization native to the Delta Quadrant some 40,000 light years from the Caretaker’s Array. They had access to warp technology, but used a form of propulsion that was difficult for sensors to detect. They harbored a great respect for what they termed “spirits of good fortune”, nucleogenic lifeforms from another realm, which they could summon using a summoning beacon. These nucleogenic lifeforms were abused by the crew of the Equinox to travel 10,000 light years in a week.

So how did a lone Ankari manage to arrive in the Alpha Quadrant at Quark’s Bar some four years before the species is first encountered by the crew of the Voyager? It’s a shame he never sold his stellar cartography maps to Starfleet.
