Burgomaster is one of the first citizens your wizard comes in contact with in Karamelle. He strives to ensure that each visitor to Nana’s Old Fashioned Karamelle Delights has a 5-star experience. After a bad employee review, he sifts and packages Treacle.
The German word Bürgermeister translates to “master of the citizens” in English. It’s often spelled as “Burgomaster” or “Burgomeister” in English. In many German cities and towns, the Bürgermeister is the head of the executive council or cabinet. The English translation for this title is usually “Mayor”, but the position of mayor is not quite the same as the Burgermeister. Bürgermeister, is used in Germany and Austria. It was used in Switzerland until the mid-19th century.
Burgermeister Meisterburger is the main antagonist of Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town, the 1970 American stop-motion Christmas television special produced by Rankin/Bass Productions. He is the mayor of Sombertown and the source of its misery. In the beginning of the film, he rejects a baby Claus and sends him to the orphanage. Years later, he passes a law that declares toys to be illegal after he trips on one. This puts him at odds with Claus, or rather, Kris Kringle, when he starts delivering toys to Sombertown. He eventually succeeds in capturing Kris, the other Kringles, and the Winter Warlock, but Ms. Jessika manages to free them with the help of the flying reindeer. Meisterburger then declares the Kringles to be outlaws and vows that he and his descendants will never stop hunting them down. But as time went by, things changed. The Meisterburgers eventually died off and fell out of power, and the people of Sombertown realized how silly their laws were, while Kris, or rather, Santa Claus becomes more beloved. For all of his demands and huffing and puffing, the Burgermeister merely becomes the sand in the oyster’s shell, the obstreperous irritant that produced a legend loved by children everywhere, while he becomes nothing more than a distant memory in vain.
Mr. Burgermeister is a character from Tim Burton’s 2012 film Frankenweenie. He is the mayor of New Holland, and uncle of Elsa Van Helsing. He is also the Frankenstein’s next-door neighbor and Mayor of New Holland. A crotchety fuss-bucket, he is fanatical about his garden and can’t stand Sparky or anything else that threatens the perfection of his tulips.
Mr. Burgermeister was named after and crafted to resemble Burgermeister Meisterburger, the fun-hating mayor of Somber Town from the Rankin/Bass stop motion film, Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
