Nitpicking Star Wars – Secure Communications

Nitpicking Star Wars
Episode II Attack of the Clones and Episode IV A New Hope
Secure Communications Are Impossible When the Empire Controls All Communication

Again the reality of the Star Wars series was the prequels were filmed 20 years later than the first three films and George Lucas probably never even thought to have real time holographic “phone calls” be a part of the original Star Wars. Then there’s also the plot device of getting Luke to Obi-Wan via Artoo. All that said as a Nitpicker, it always galls me when superior technology is presented in prequel. Now I have to satisfy that interior itch of WHY doesn’t this tech exist later in the timeline.

Simply put the Princess doesn’t trust the holonet for calling Obi-Wan (besides he’s playing the role of the hermit on Tatooine) as the comm lines are controlled by the Empire. So she’s going to find him in person. Once she knows capture is for certain and imminent she records the holo with a secure droid.
