Ichabod Crane has found a text, a litany of horrors. He begs you to return the wretched scribbling whence it came. He sends you to the Crypt of Tales. Once inside the Crypt you encounter a fiendish ghoul, The Scriptkeeper. He enjoins you to peruse the fiendish fantasies contained within his script; The Snow Queen in “Let It Snow”, The Shark Principal in “Jaws Well That Ends Well”, and finally the Unforgiving Tree. The second Tale from the Script is “Jaws Well That Ends Well.” Your wizard will fight the Shark School; Shark Students, the Shark T.A., the Shark Teacher, and the Shark Principal.

The Shark School; Shark Student (tl), Shark T.A. (tr), Shark Teacher (bl), and Shark Principal (br)

In Lemuria’s deepest waters, a school is in session. Not of kids eager to learn but of sharks eager to do something else! The TA Shark announces, “Let’s go hunt!” The Student Sharks chorus, “Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo!” Defeating the TA Shark and Shark Students isn’t enough to stop the Shark School. With a song in their hearts and a grim smile on their lips, they swim to richer tides. The Helpless Lemur urges you to, “RUN AWAY!” After defeating the Shark Teacher and more Shark Students, the Helpless Lemur is ‘Safe at last.’ Alas you must still defeat the Shark Principal.

“Baby Shark” is a children’s song associated with a dance involving hand movements dating back to the late 20th century. In 2016, “Baby Shark” became immensely popular when Pinkfong, a South Korean entertainment company, released a version of the song on June 17, 2016, with a YouTube music video which went viral on social media, in online videos, and on the radio. In November 2020, Pinkfong’s version became the most-viewed YouTube video of all time, after amassing 7.04 billion views. In January 2022, it became the first YouTube video to reach 10 billion views. As of November 2024, it has 15.34 billion views on YouTube.

The original song dates back to the 20th century. Various entities have tried to copyright original videos and sound recordings of the song, but according to The New York Times, the underlying song and characters are believed to be in the public domain, as the song has been a popular camp singalong for decades.

“Baby Shark” was greatly popularized by a version of the song produced by Pinkfong, an education brand owned by South Korean entertainment company SmartStudy. The original music video for “Baby Shark” (Korean: 아기 상어; RR: Agi sang-eo) without child actors was uploaded on November 25, 2015. All videos related to Pinkfong’s song had gained about 5 billion views by January 2020. The most popular version of Pinkfong’s videos, “Baby Shark Dance”, was uploaded on June 17, 2016. This version was sung by then-10-year-old Korean-American singer Hope Segoine, and the music video featured two child actors, Park Geon Roung of South Korea and Elaine Kim Johnston of New Zealand. On November 2, 2020, more than four years after it was first uploaded, this version amassed 7.04 billion views to become the most-viewed YouTube video of all time. “Baby Shark Dance” has received over 15 billion views worldwide and over 44 million likes as of November 2024.

The Shark Family: Daddy Shark (Blue), Baby Shark (Yellow), Mama Shark (Pink), Grandpa Shark (Green), Grandma Shark (Peach)

The song starts with bars from Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, which sounds similar to music from the film Jaws. “Baby Shark” features a family of sharks (Baby, Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa) introduced each by a verse and accompanying action followed by a chorus of “Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo.” The Shark family then hunt a school of fish through three verses ‘Let’s go Hunt, ‘Run Away,’ and ‘Safe at last.’ The school of fish then escape to safety and that’s the end, Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo.
