Nitpicking X-Men – Mystique’s Power Set

“Gyrich” catches the phone from Senator Kelly. “Gyrich” places the phone in the pocket of his suit. We know the phone is working because Senator Kelly was just making a call. Because of the casual nature in which the Senator tosses the phone to his assistant, we can assume that “Gyrich” keeps the phone available.

Mystique is impersonating Gyrich and has been for some time. When “Gyrich” reveals herself to actually be Mystique, the phone vanishes along with “Gyrich’s” suit. So, either one of two things: Mystique can fabricate working technology, or Mystique can absorb non organic material when transforming. Either way, it’s an incredible mutant ability.
