Nitpicking Star Trek – No Harm, No Foul

Starfleet seems to have some really lax policies when it comes to crew members being taken over by malevolent entities. Yes, we saw that Starfleet didn’t trust Picard to fight with the fleet against the Borg in First Contact, but that’s minor.

Data and O’Brien appear on this list twice. Data retains his position and rank after twice showing that his neural nets can be compromised.

I also want to note that this meme was originally put together BEFORE Lower Decks or Strange New Worlds. Lower Decks “Strange Energies” S2 Ep1 and Strange New Worlds “Subspace Rhapsody” S2 Ep9 makes it clear that this kind of possession/take over is more common than not.
