Nitpicking Close Encounters of the Third Kind – Where Does the Shadow Come From?

We can see that it is dark at Devil’s Tower Wyoming, the only illumination are the field lights and runway lights going off in the distance.

When the Mothership passes over we can see the scientists and technicians are backlit from the field lights. But what light source is making the shadow of the mother ship without washing out the field light shadows or causing shadows behind the scientists and technicians?

Especially since the the Mothership is a light source in of itself and should be lighting area?

Conclusion: In addition to mastering Faster Than Light space travel, the aliens have also mastered Dramatic Shadow Casting.
