Lawyer Extraordinaire, Mary Pason is representing Ned Collie at his trial. There is no question that Ned is guilty of the crimes he is accused of committing. Judge Raelee is presiding over the trial. After uncovering the fact that Ms. Bowder is a Marleybonian infiltrator and putting Judge Judi and Claudia Bee on the stand, Mary needs proof of the lawlessness of the judges. She sends you to the Hall of Judgment to photomance any lawlessness.
The Judges of Wallaru are the law. Here are their rules:
We don’t take off our helmets.
We enforce the law equally.
We follow orders.
We seize the dream.
Herb: “Wait, you’re arrestin’ me! These hooligans tore through my shop like a barmy Bunyip.”
Hooligan: “Oi, I simply told you to stop looking at me funny, then you pitched a fit and attacked us!”
Herb: “You attacked me first, you drongo, and destroyed me shop! And I wasn’t looking at you at all!”
Judge Clancy: “Seems to me you’re all responsible for illegal combat. However, for the tourists, since you’re new, I’ll charge a mere hefty fine. You, on the other hand, should know better. I’m sentencing you to twelve months in the Mines of Morbidia!”
Hooligan: “Hey, this Wizard’s lookin’ at us funny. Get ’em!”
Judge Clancy has arrested Herb, owner the H-E-R-B Grocery Store and a hooligan. He is holding them both responsible for illegal combat.
Judge is a title held by several significant characters in the Judge Dredd series. The role of Street Judges combines those of judge and police officer, thus avoiding long legal wrangles by allowing for criminals to be tried and sentenced on the spot.
The Judges themselves are not above the law — a violation that would earn a citizen a few months in an Iso-Cube would get a Judge a twenty-year sentence, to be served at hard labor on Saturn’s moon, Titan.
Chief Clancy Wiggum is the head of the Springfield Police Department. He is an extreme stereotype of a lazy police officer. Chief Wiggum is obese, ignorant and lazy, with a fondness for donuts and guns. While he pretentiously feigns authority, he has little regard for individual rights or even public safety. He is uninformed and continuously flaunts his power, albeit with good intentions most of the time. He is part Irish. He is a major character in The Simpsons and has a supporting role in The Simpsons Movie.
He, along with most of Springfield’s government and its police force, is also corrupt, having asked for or taken bribes several times. When Bart bribed him with stolen wedding presents, he told him to read his badge and, at the bottom of the badge, was the caption “Cash Bribes Only”. He has a strained friendship with Mayor Quimby. This strained relationship may help to explain why Wiggum has retained his job, despite his inability to do his duties.
He is often assisted by his more intelligent “top cops”, Eddie and Lou. He is completely ignorant of Springfield’s laws and even makes up his own laws on the fly.
The Hall of Judgement is inspired by the Halls of Justice from the movie Mad Max.
The current list of all the (known) Wallaru references are located here.
Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references but I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
