Roku’s official video as posted on YouTube

The Far Side of the Bay

This background was tough to assemble with all the tall foreground buildings

A fighter jet lifts off from an air craft carrier (Top Gun)
The hot air balloons could be referencing Around the World in 80 Days
That sure looks like Te Fiti from Moana
The SS Minnow is beached on Gilligan’s Island
Those could be Warsaw Pact paratroopers from Red Dawn

My son thinks that’s the Black Pearl from Pirated of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. To me the rocks look more like the rocks from The Goonies, that would make the ship One-Eyed Willy’s Inferno
I believe that’s the eponymous Yellow Submarine from the 1968 Beatles film in the foreground
That looks like Forrest Gump’s shrimp boat Jenny
Fighter jets protect Roku City from the aliens from Independence Day
Boys running away from a train on a trestle (Stand By Me)
I believe that’s Jurassic Park located on Isla Nublar

The sailboat reminds me of the “I’m Sailing” scene from What About Bob?
That’s Wally World from National Lampoon’s Vacation
Next to Wally World is a building that looks an awful lot like the St. Louis City Museum
The mini-sub parked next to the yacht reminds me of the Bond film For Your Eyes Only
Is that Ariel from The Little Mermaid
The Pacific Princess from The Love Boat is docked at Roku City

The Apartment Building:
I’m told the open fire hydrant is from Do the Right Thing.
I’m pretty sure that’s Daniel LaRusso practicing the Crane Technique from The Karate Kid on the third floor

The Beach:
The basketball hoop is either from White Men Can’t Jump or the beginning scene from Space Jam.
That’s definitely a lifeguard tower from Baywatch.

The Circle R Convenience Store:
The store is definitely a spoof the Circle K chain as featured in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
Further solidifying the reference is Bill and Ted’s time-machine phonebooth parked out front.
We’re divided, half of the family thinks the boombox is from Clerks / Jay and Silent Bob, and half of us thinks it belongs to Lloyd Dobler from Say Anything.

Cameron adds On the outside of the Circle R convenience store there is a poster/ad for the ice cream with 3 Cornettos this is in reference to what has been dubbed “The Cornetto Trilogy” a series of three movies by Edgar Wright, each a homage to a different movie genre (horror/zombie, action/buddy cop, sci-fi/alien invasion) loosely connected by a character eating a different flavor of Cornetto.

The Donut Shop:
The Donut Shop is definitely Randy’s Donuts as seen in Iron Man 2.

The Drive In:
Playing on the screen is “Let’s All Go to the Lobby”, the 1957 animated ad urging folks to buy concessions from the lobby. It was featured in Grease.
Danny’s Greased Lighting is parked inside.
The movie posters are for Endless Summer and Jaws

The Amusement Park:
That’s the Zoltar machine from Big.
My wife believes that’s the banana stand from Arrested Development.
I think that’s the food cart from In the Heights.
The graffiti tag references Independence Day and the Kaiju hunting mech from Pacific Rim.

The Mall:
Paul Blart – Mall Cop has left his Segway out front of the mall.

The Pool House:
The pool is either from the Sandlot or Caddyshack. My son thought it might be from Gremlins, but Gremlins pool is inside the YMCA.
Pee Wee Herman has parked his bike out front. (Pee Wee’s Big Adventure).

The Surf Shop:
My son identified the shop as Mister Tastee from The Adventures of Pete and Pete.

Did we miss any?
