Nitpicking Elf – Santa’s Bag Helper & Forgotten Deliveries

The more I think about this scene, the less it makes sense. I can live with the idea that Baby Buddy crawls into Santa’s sack to get the Teddy Bear. It’s the premise behind the whole film. Got it, NO problem.

The implication is that Buddy’s orphanage is the last stop on Santa’s trip and this why Santa doesn’t realize Buddy is in the sack. Plausible. So WHY is there still a Teddy Bear in the sack? Why didn’t Santa deliver this present? Obviously the Bear is Santa’s sack assistant and not a present as seen by the fact the bear moves of its own accord.

But what else is in the bag? What other presents did Santa not deliver? Does Santat routinely have leftover gifts at the end of his yearly delivery and that’s why he didn’t notice the extra weight of human baby?

One last observation, WHY was New York City the last stop? Wouldn’t Santa still have three more time zones for North and South America? Forgetting Alaska and Hawaii and anything else further west this side of the international date line.
