Archibald Ratfink

Once your Wizard has access to Selenopolis and can begin experimenting with the Fusion of two schools of magic, you have the choice of picking a new school to associate with. If you choose Myth, your Wizard deals with Old Sage, the Myth tree in the Blended Grove. Old Sage the Weaving Tree of Myth sends you to summon Archibald Ratfink. Archibald Ratfink is the Icon of the School of Myth. Archibald is from Marleybone, a magician for the ages according to Old Sage. He was a scoundrel, a fiend, and bounder according to others.

Old Sage hints that Archibald Ratfink was one of the first magicians to weave schools. He seems to credit the Myth Icon with creating the Colossafrog Spell by weaving Humongofrog with Death Magic.

Archibald “Archie” Andrews, created in 1941 by publisher John L. Goldwater and artist Bob Montana in collaboration with writer Vic Bloom, is the main character in the Archie Comics franchise, including the long-running Archie Andrews radio series, a syndicated comic strip, The Archie Show, Archie’s Weird Mysteries, and Riverdale. With the creation of Archie Andrews, publisher John Goldwater hoped to appeal to fans of the Andy Hardy films starring Mickey Rooney. Archie Andrews is the rhythm guitarist and one of the three singers of the fictional band The Archies.

Archie Andrews

Archie Andrews debuted in Pep Comics #22 (cover-dated Dec. 1941). His own comic debuted the next year.

Archie is a typical small-town teenager, who lives in Riverdale, where he attends Riverdale High School. He is extremely clumsy and can make some dumb mistakes, but always has the best of intentions. He forms a crush on rich girl Veronica Lodge, but also loves his next-door neighbor, Betty Cooper, forming the love triangle driving many of the comic’s plot lines. Archie is one of the three vocalists and the rhythm guitarist of his band, The Archies, along with Betty and Veronica, his best friend Jughead Jones, as well as his nemesis Reggie Mantle, who battles Archie for Betty and Veronica’s affections. Archie often comes into conflict with Veronica’s rich father, Hiram Lodge, and Riverdale High’s principal, Waldo Weatherbee.

Arthur J. Raffles (usually called A. J. Raffles) is a fictional character created in 1898 by E. W. Hornung, brother-in-law of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes. Raffles is, in many ways, an inversion of Holmes – he is a “gentleman thief”, living at the Albany, a prestigious address in London, playing cricket as a gentleman (or “amateur”) for the Gentlemen of England and supporting himself by carrying out ingenious burglaries. He is called the “Amateur Cracksman” and often, at first, differentiates between him and the “professors” – professional criminals from the lower classes.

As Holmes has Dr. Watson to chronicle his adventures, Raffles has Harry “Bunny” Manders – a former schoolmate saved from disgrace by Raffles, whom Raffles persuaded to accompany him on a burglary. Raffles is an expert thief and like Holmes, he is a master of disguise. Raffles’s adventures have been adapted across various media, the character played by a number of popular actors including John Barrymore and David Niven.
