When I first made this meme back in 2021, I wasn’t remembering the episode clearly. I assumed that the Hunter was using his standard weapon the entire time. He was not. He was using a Federation phaser rifle that he retrieved from a unconscious security officer.
Yet once the Hunter is face-to-face with Species 8472 he is carrying a standard Hirogen weapon.
So where did the Hirogen weapon come from? The tech doesn’t hide the weaponry from the prey’s perception but rather converts acquired weaponry to Hirogen specs, thus giving the Hunter advantage in combat by ALWAYS having a familiar weapon to use.
