Nitpicking Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan – Recycled Monitors?

This is an older meme being archived. When I first put it together it made sense that the Reliant was also monitoring a nearby Constitution Class starship, but if there was one close enough to monitor, why didn’t it show up to help?

I’m rethinking this. The Reliant is on a drudge mission. The Miranda Class is obviously the 23rd century equivalent of the 24th century California Class and doesn’t have the latest tech installed. The monitors were left over from a decommissioned Constitution Class and never reprogramed to accurately display the Reliant’s hull.

The reality truth of the matter is that director Nicholas Meyer and producer Harve Bennett were making this film on the cheap. The Reliant bridge is a redress of the Enterprise bridge and the parts of the schematic that are clearly Enterprise’s hull were covered over with black tape.
