Serge the Storm Weaving Tree

Serge is the weaving tree of Storm. He informs your wizard that not only is Storm known for powerful strikes, but it can counter the healing properties of Life and slow the burn of Fire. His easy-going personality guides your wizard to galvanize your magic with the power of Storm.

In addition to Pop Culture references contained within his name, Serge is also a play on the word ‘Surge’
surge /sərj/ noun
(of a crowd or a natural force) move suddenly and powerfully forward or upward.
“the journalists surged forward”
(of an electric voltage or current) increase suddenly.

Bronson Pinchot in 2012

Bronson Alcott Pinchot (born May 20, 1959) is an American actor. He is best known for playing Balki Bartokomous on the ABC sitcom Perfect Strangers (1986–1993) and the character of Serge in the Beverly Hills Cop Franchise; Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024). He also performed in films, such as Risky Business (1983), After Hours (1985), True Romance (1993), Stephen King’s The Langoliers (1995), It’s My Party (1996), Courage Under Fire (1996), The First Wives Club (1996) and in television series, such as Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Meego and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. In 2012, he starred in his own reality series, The Bronson Pinchot Project on the DIY Network.

Beverly Hills Cop
Serge is a foreign (likely French) employee of the art gallery owned by Victor Maitland and run by Jenny Summers. He sells paintings and offers people drinks, he is particularly proud of his espresso with a lemon twist. He’s the first person Axel encounters at the art gallery before Jenny spots him. He is seen again when Foley returns with Rosewood, who unlike Axel takes him up on his offer for an espresso with a lemon twist.

Serge (Bronson Pinchot and Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy)

Beverly Hills Cop III
Axel is in Beverly Hills again and finds Serge’s pop-up boutique, reuniting with Serge for the first time in a decade. Serge instantly remembers Axel, whose name he still can’t pronounce, though Axel takes a minute before remembering Serge. Rosewood doesn’t remember him either until Serge reminds him of the espresso with a lemon twist he made Rosewood. It was the last one Serge ever made because espresso dyes teeth. Since Axel’s bust of Victor Maitland, the art gallery went bankrupt. Serge’s new business, Serge’s Survival Boutique, is selling weapons and protective devices and products for survival. His weapons conform to the three P’s -protection, prestige and pretty. He gives Axel one of his weapons, a Stunner, because he worries for his friend. Serge shows off the Annihilator 2000 as his prized weapon, which he’s sold dozens of to Jackie Stallone and Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Axel returns to the boutique looking for weapons he can use to take down Ellis DeWald and the Wonder World goons. Serge is hesitant to give Axel the floor model of the Annihilator 2000 because it’s germy, but gives in after a moment. Axel uses the Stunner to escape DeWald and his men than the Annihilator to take out DeWald’s men.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F
Axel enlists his friend Serge’s help to gain access to the house through a nearby showing.

A serge suit.

Serge is also a type of twill fabric that has diagonal lines or ridges on both inner and outer surfaces via a two-up, two-down weave. The worsted variety is used in making military uniforms, suits, greatcoats, and trench coats. Its counterpart, silk serge, is used for linings. French serge is a softer, finer variety. The word is also used for a high-quality woven woolen fabric. The name is derived from Old French serge, itself from Latin serica, from Greek σηρικός (sērikós), meaning ‘silken’.

Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references, I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
