The Shield of Rebellious Water

Wondrous item (shield), rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This ornate shield is crafted from a special wood grown by druids and a heat-resistant alloy. It is adorned with ancient water runes and a mythical(?) Elemental Water Dragon. Though it functions as a normal shield, it is designed with arcane casters in mind.

Stats:
Armor Class (AC): +2 bonus to AC when wielded.

Requirement: Proficiency with shields and must be a spellcaster to attune (e.g., wizard, sorcerer, warlock, bard, cleric, or druid).

Weight: 6 lbs.

Magical Properties:
Fire Ward: While attuned and wielding this shield, you have resistance to fire damage. (take half damage)

Flame Reversal (1/day): As a reaction when you are hit by a fire-based spell or ability (e.g., Fireball, Flame Strike), the shield redirects the flame’s energy at a creature of your choosing. Choose one creature within 30 feet — it must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = your spell save DC). On a failed save, the creature takes 3d6 fire damage, or half as much on a success.

Arcane Focus: This shield can be used as an arcane focus for water-based spellcasting.

Optional Flavor/Visual Effects:
The water runes undulate like waves in the presence of fire.

When redirecting flames, the shield emits steam and the Elemental Water Dragon glows luminescent.
