Ye Olde Shoppe of Magicks – Wand of Sonic Adaptation

Wand of Sonic Adaptation
Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement)

This slender, metallic rod is tipped with a glowing emitter that shifts color depending on its function. It hums faintly when activated, and though it was not designed for combat, it proves to be an incredibly versatile tool in clever hands.

Spellcasting Focus. The Wand of Sonic Adaptation can be used as an arcane focus.

Versatile Functions. The wand has 10 charges. While holding it, you can expend 1 or more charges to cast one of the following pre-installed spells (save DC 15) without using a spell slot:

  • Open/Close (Weilder must specify which)
    Knock (1 charge)
    or Mending (1 charge)
  • Scan (Caster must specify which)
    Detect magic (1 charge)
or Detect poison and disease (1 charge)
  • Bypass Systems
    Dispel magic (2 charges)
  • Medical Scan
Cure wounds (2nd level or highest level Caster is capable of casting, 2 charges)
  • Recalibrate (Caster must specify)
    Identify (3 charges)
    or Comprehend languages (3 charges)

The wand retains unused charges regains 1d6 + 2 charges daily at dawn to a max of 10.

Illuminate. The wand sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet, at will.

Quirky Limitations. The sonic screwdriver cannot open deadlock seals, deal damage, or be used as a weapon. Attempts to harm living creatures with it cause the device to short out losing 1D4 charges and be inoperable until the wielder completes a short rest.

Improvised Brilliance. At the DM’s discretion, you may use the screwdriver to make an inventive check (Arcana, Investigation, or Sleight of Hand) with advantage if you describe a clever application of its functions.

Rarity: Rare
Requires Attunement: Yes
