Vanity Scars Appear on Command
The Guild accepts Lower Decks as Canon so we must accept everything we seen on screen as an animated version of the “reality” of Star Trek. We must wonder why Beckett’s scar which she proudly shows off to Ransom doesn’t appear two episodes earlier, nor does it appear 2 season later. Much like Picard’s baldness, the vanity scar is a personal choice.
However, Beckett doesn’t like to make a big deal about her past history, unless she’s trying to make a point. That’s why her scar doesn’t appear unless she’s consciously thinking about it.
Yes, I know the reality is the animators for episode one didn’t know about the scar yet and the animators for the third season episode (and others where we see Beckett in her underwear) forgot to include the scar. I’ll state it again, Guild members deal in the ‘reel’-ity of what is shown on screen, not the Reality of television production.
