The Great Architecture Reuse Initiative
I often get asked why I point out “flaws” in TV and films, especially Star Trek. Can’t I just enjoy what I’m watching? The thing is, I tend to watch Star Trek repeatedly (as well as some of my favorite movies). When I notice mistakes, reused props, or sets, I like to rationalize WHY it’s not a mistake. That’s the goal of the Guild. ANYONE can point out a mistake in a TV show or film. A true fan bends over backwards to explain WHY it’s not really a mistake at all.
For example, today’s nit looks at what is obviously a redress of the entrance to Building I on Paramount’s backlot. Since we KNOW that Star Trek is not just a TV, we need a good in-universe reason why 2020s San Francisco looks remarkably like 1940s Boston. Q gets blamed enough. I like the “Architectural Redundancy” of the Temporal Cold War.
