Gary Mitchell made a mistake. I can see misremembering a date (which is why those numbers don’t make much sense). But forgetting your best friend’s middle initial (especially with that initial standing for Tiberius) always seemed like a pretty blatant error.
In Michael Jan Friedman’s three-part novel series, My Brother’s Keeper, Kirk claims his middle name to be “Racquetball” to Mitchell upon an early meeting. This is now my head-canon.
I used to have the novels but lost them in a house fire. I’ve looked on-line to find a transcription of the scene. If anyone has a transcription they’d be willing to share, I’d be much appreciative.
