That’s Not Data, That’s Altan B. Soong
Thank you to David S. for asking about this one. David wanted to know how a Borg Drone’s head in the Delta Quadrant looks almost identical to Data’s severed head as found on an archeological dig in San Francisco (TNG Time’s Arrow S5 Ep26).
The reality is the prop drone head is re-use of the prop Data’s head. The reel-ity needs a better explanation.
You’ve noticed that Dr. Soong used his face as the model for both Data and Lore. Also that Dr. Soong bares an uncanny resemblance to his ancestors Adam Soong and Arik Soong as well as his offspring Altan Inigo Soong. This is because the Soong family tree is the result of cloning.
The drone head the Borg Queen is investigating is none other that Altan B. Soong (Altan Inigo Soong’s clone “brother”) who was assimilated at Wolf 359. Altan’s assimilation is one of the reasons the Borg were so keen on assimilating Data in First Contact. But that’s not Data, that’s Altan.
