Nitpicking Star Trek TNG – Glitch in the Holodeck

I want to know what the Jarada used to scan the Enterprise. The Holodecks are located very interior and should be among the most protected areas of the ship. But the scans interrupted the ability to exit, turned off the safety protocols and caused these anachronistic props to suddenly appear.
