Nitpicking Star Trek – Guarding the Bridge Turbolift

Before I get lots of messages about whether Willoughby is the character’s canon name or not. No, it isn’t. Willoughby is a DEEP cut Looney Tunes reference.

If Willoughby is supposed to be making sure that the crazed Dr. van Gelder doesn’t get onto the bridge, shouldn’t he be standing in such a manner that he’s watching the door? Nope, he’s watching the bridge.

Willoughby doesn’t even turn at the sound of the door opening. Of course this gives Dr. van Gelder the perfect opportunity to neck chop him. No wonder redshirts are constantly dying under Kirk’s command. They aren’t even trained to look in the proper direction for potential danger.
