Cronus

Cronus is the father of Zeus Sky Father, Poseidon Earth Shaker, and Hades the Unseen. He is the secret hidden Boss in Tartarus, the Level 90+ final dungeon in Aquila, a challenge for the mightiest of Wizards.

I am Cronus. I am the father of Demeter and Hestia, Hades and Hera, Poseidon, and even little Zeus. You are a speck of dust. Less than dust. You are a drop of sweat on my foot. I will consume you now.

In Ancient Greek religion and mythology, Cronus, Cronos, or Kronos was the leader and youngest of the first generation of Titans, the divine descendants of the primordial Gaia (Mother Earth) and Uranus (Father Sky). He overthrew his father and ruled during the mythological Golden Age, until he was overthrown by his own son Zeus and imprisoned in Tartarus. According to Plato, however, the deities Phorcys, Cronus, and Rhea were the eldest children of Oceanus and Tethys.

Cronus learned of a prophecy that stated he would one day be overthrown by his children. As a result, although he sired the gods Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon by Rhea, he devoured them all as soon as they were born to prevent the prophecy. When Zeus was born, Cronus was given a stone in a blanket which he then devoured thinking that it was his newborn son. Zeus was raised in secret and defeated his father. Zeus then freed his siblings from Cronus’ belly. Zeus then imprisoned his father forever in Tartarus with the other Titans.

Chronos and his child by Giovanni Francesco Romanelli

Cronus was usually depicted with a harpe, scythe or a sickle, which was the instrument he used to castrate and depose Uranus, his father. In Athens, on the twelfth day of the Attic month of Hekatombaion, a festival called Kronia was held in honour of Cronus to celebrate the harvest, suggesting that, as a result of his association with the virtuous Golden Age, Cronus continued to preside as a patron of the harvest. Cronus was also identified in classical antiquity with the Roman deity Saturn.

Cronus is also the inspiration for the modern mythological figure known as Father Time
