Alejandro de la Paz

Alejandro de la Paz is a Monquestian who loves to fish. After introducing your wizard to the joys of fishing Aztecan waters, he graciously bestows your wizard with the “Buoy Chests” Spell.

Alejandro Suárez Lozano (born 1980) also known as Alejandro Suárez, is a Spanish film director and writer. He wrote, directed, and produced several short films including The Fisherman and Hidden Soldier, that received more than 70 awards and 300 official selections around the world. Suárez is currently working on his debut feature film Mogwai that is based on his short film The Fisherman, in collaboration with British screenwriter Gary Young.

Suárez’s short film, The Fisherman (2015), won notable awards including a special mention at BiFan, and the best short film at Nocturna Madrid International Fantastic Film Festival SHOTS section and the Seminci Castilla y Leon section. The Fisherman also won best short film at the 38th Edition of the Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente de Elche (Elche International Film Festival), which qualified The Fisherman to be pre-selected for the Goya Awards.

La Paz (English translation: Peace) is the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur and an important regional commercial center. The city had a 2020 census population of 250,141 inhabitants, making it the most populous city in the state. Its metropolitan population is somewhat larger because of the surrounding towns, such as El Centenario, Chametla and San Pedro. It is in La Paz Municipality, which is the fourth-largest municipality in Mexico in geographical size and reported a population of 292,241 inhabitants on a land area of 20,275 km2 (7,828 sq mi).

La Paz is located on the eastern side of the Baja Peninsula on the coast of the Sea of Cortez and the Gulf of California. The Sea of Cortez is a prime spot for fishing. Tourists come from all over to fish there. The waters of the Sea of Cortez contain 875 species of fish and a large and stable number of game fish.

For the record, it was suggested to me that Spotify artist Alejandro de la Paz was the inspiration for this character. However, given that he has just over 200 monthly listeners and just over 1,000 downloads of 2 of his tracks, I think this is a stretch. But it could be a reference.
