Bob the Builder is a British animated children’s television series created by Keith Chapman for HIT Entertainment and Hot Animation. The series follows the adventures of Bob, a general contractor, specializing in masonry, along with his colleague Wendy, various neighbors, and friends, and equipment, and their gang of anthropomorphized work-vehicles, Scoop, Muck, Dizzy, Roley, Lofty and many others. The series ran from 12 April 1999 to 31 December 2011 in the United Kingdom through the CBBC strand and later CBeebies. The series originally used stop-motion from 1999 to 2009, but later used CGI animation starting with the spin-off series Ready, Steady, Build!. British proprietors of Bob the Builder and Thomas & Friends sold the enterprise in 2011 to US toy-maker Mattel for $680 million.

In each episode, Bob and his group help with renovations, construction, and repairs and with other projects as needed. The show emphasizes conflict resolution, co-operation, socialization, and various learning skills. Bob’s catchphrase is “Can we fix it?”, to which the other characters respond with “Yes we can!” This phrase is also the title of the show’s theme song, which was a million-selling number one hit in the UK.

When I write these articles, I will post them first to my Facebook Wizard101 groups. One member of the W101 Development team follows my postings. I have been informed that the Leeds Rhinos rugby player Rob Burrow is NOT a reference point for Robb BurrowBuilder. I am leaving this portion of the article in as my developer friend has confirmed it is a VERY cool coincidence and he wishes that it had been intentional. So I get to RetCon Wizard101 backstory.

No lie, I internally fan-boy squee when I get interaction from KI
Rob Burrow of the Leeds Rhinos ca 2008

Robert Geoffrey Burrow MBE (born September 26, 1982) is an English former professional rugby league player. An England and Great Britain representative, he spent his entire 16-year professional career with Leeds Rhinos in the Super League, making over 400 appearances between 2001 and 2017. At 5 ft 5 in (165 cm) tall and weighing less than 150 lbs (70 kg), Burrow was known for many years as “the smallest player in Super League”. Despite this, he was one of the most successful players in the competition’s history, winning eight Super League championships, two Challenge Cups, being named to the Super League Dream Team on three occasions and winning the Harry Sunderland Trophy twice.

Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references but I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
