Zed

Thank you to Aleetia B. for this one.

Zed is a Mantis monk initially found within the Tower of Pale Beauty in Sardonyx.

Ezekiel the Lucent wants to Zed and Hoza to light the Mana Fires. Your wizard brings the news to Hoza and he sends you on to Zed’s post. Zed’s post has been ransacked and there is no sign of the monk. Ezekiel assumes the worst and says, “Zed’s dead!? :Crrrk:”

Zeds Dead is a Canadian electronic music duo from Toronto, Canada, consisting of Dylan Mamid, also known as DC, and Zachary Rapp-Rovan, also known as Hooks. The duo rose to prominence releasing original music and remixes from 2009 to 2010 before becoming a staple on the international touring circuit thereafter.

They explore a diverse variety of genres that combine aspects of dubstep, UK garage, house, electro house, hip-hop, glitch, drum and bass, and more.

Both born and raised in Toronto, Canada, the duo were introduced through mutual friends in 2004 when DC asked Hooks to paint a graffiti mural in his garage. They quickly discovered a mutual love for hip-hop and simultaneously were both starting to produce music. Initially collaborating under the moniker “Mass Productions”, the duo came up with their current name from a line spoken by Bruce Willis’s character Butch Coolidge in the 1994 Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American independent crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino from a story he conceived with Roger Avary. It tells four intertwining tales of crime and violence in Los Angeles, California. The film stars John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman. The title refers to the pulp magazines and hardboiled crime novels popular during the mid-20th century, known for their graphic violence and punchy dialogue.

Zed (Peter Greene)

From the “Gold Watch” portion of the film, Bruce Willis’ character Butch is on the run after double-crossing Marsellus (Ving Rhames). Marsellus spots Butch stopped at a traffic light and Butch rams his car into him. Marsellus chases him into a pawnshop. Maynard (Duane Whitaker), the shop owner, captures them at gunpoint and binds and gags them in the basement. Maynard and his accomplice, Zed (Peter Greene), take Marsellus into another room and begin to abuse him. Butch breaks loose and is about to escape, but decides to save Marsellus and arms himself with a katana from the pawnshop. He kills Maynard and frees Marsellus, who shoots Zed in the crotch with Maynard’s shotgun. Marsellus tells Butch that they are even, and instructs him to tell no one about the incident and depart Los Angeles forever. Butch picks up Fabienne (Maria de Medeiros) on Zed’s chopper and they drive away after Butch says the iconic line.

Although I am well versed in Pop Culture references but I do not claim to have caught them all. Let me know your favorites in the comments and if I’ve missed one you caught, let me know so I can add it to the list.
