Kodi

Entering into the Ursai Village, your wizard encounters Chew’i, a white Ursai who is “helping” (most of the bears have done two things, diddly and squat) his village prepare for the upcoming Killawahoo Ceremony. After helping Grizztopher he tells you to take the fish to Kodi and then lays down for a nap. Kodi needs driftwood gathered to build a table for the Killawahoo Ceremony Your wizard ends helping Chew’i, Tosh, Grizztopher, and Kodi finish the preparations for the ceremony.

“The Bare Necessities” is a jazz song, written by Terry Gilkyson, from Walt Disney’s 1967 animated feature film The Jungle Book, sung by Phil Harris as Baloo and Bruce Reitherman as Mowgli. A reprise of the song was sung by Sebastian Cabot as Bagheera and Phil Harris as Baloo at the end of the film. In 1967, “The Bare Necessities” was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song but lost to “Talk to the Animals” from Doctor Dolittle.

Brother Bear is a 2003 American animated musical fantasy comedy-drama film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It was directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker (in their feature directorial debuts) and produced by Chuck Williams, from a screenplay written by Tab Murphy, Lorne Cameron, David Hoselton, and the writing team of Steve Bencich and Ron J. Friedman. The film stars the voices of Joaquin Phoenix, Jeremy Suarez, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Jason Raize (in his only film role), and D.B. Sweeney. Brother Bear follows an Alaska native boy named Kenai who kills a grizzly bear as retribution for his older brother’s death. The Great Spirits, incensed by the unnecessary killing, transform Kenai into a bear himself as punishment. In order to become human again, Kenai travels to a mountain where the Northern lights touch the earth, forging a relationship with a cub named Koda along the way.

Koda and Kenai

Koda told the tale of how his mother had fought off a pack of human hunters and gotten separated from him in the process. This caused Kenai to realize that he had killed Koda’s mother when he was still a human. Kenai confessed this to Koda, who fled from him in sorrow. Though angry and hurt by Kenai’s confession, Koda ultimately returned to save him from the human hunter Denahi.

The Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi), also known as the Kodiak brown bear and sometimes the Alaskan brown bear, inhabits the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in southwest Alaska. It is one of the largest recognized subspecies or population of the brown bear, and one of the two largest bears alive today, the other being the polar bear. They are also considered by some to be a population of grizzly bears.

Physiologically and physically, the Kodiak bear is very similar to the other brown bear subspecies, such as the mainland grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) and the extinct California grizzly bear (U. a. californicus), with the main difference being size, as Kodiak bears are on average 1.5 to 2 times larger than their cousins. Despite this large variation in size, the diet and lifestyle of the Kodiak bear do not differ greatly from those of other brown bears.

North Mississippi Allstars is an American blues and southern rock band from Hernando, Mississippi, founded in 1996. The band is currently composed of brothers Luther Dickinson (guitar, lowebow, vocals) and Cody Dickinson (drums, keyboards, electric washboard, vocals). Their most recent album Set Sail was released in 2022. The group was formed in 1996 by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson (sons of Memphis musician and producer Jim Dickinson), along with bassist Chris Chew, with the intention of combining the blues and bluegrass of the North Mississippi region with rock and other modern forms.

I’ll be the first to admit that NPCs from “Bear Necessities” stood out as “These Must be a reference to SOMETHING”. This article is PURE speculation. That said, I would like to thank Ashley D., Billy S., Diane G., Lynette H., Maureen P. and Mike M. for their help with the Bear Necessities articles.
