Nitpicking Stargate – Your Tax Dollars at Work

A breakdown of the Stargate’s timeline in the 20th century: 

Mid-1990s: Daniel Jackson was brought in by the Air Force to decipher the Stargate’s workings. 

1928: The Stargate (referred to as the Alpha Gate) was discovered in Giza, Egypt.

1939: The device was brought to the United States to keep it from the Nazis.

Mid-1990s: The Stargate was stored in various locations before being installed in the Cheyenne Mountain facility. The Cheyenne facility was apparently built after the US Air Force built a successful Dialing Computer. According to Captain Samantha Carter, it took 15 years and three supercomputers to create the system.

So never once in the time before the hiring of Daniel Jackson did the US Air Force make a successful dial even though they already had the first six symbols (I reference the paraphrased line “This is far as we’ve ever got”).
