Star Trek has been great at predicting future tech. TOS predicted cell phones, flat screen monitors, bluetooth headphones, video calls, and automatic doors. TNG predicted iPads, touch screen monitors, virtual reality, and 3D printing, DS9 predicted smart glasses.
This is one piece of technology that we’re still waiting for.
