“The Loss” S4 Ep10
& Star Trek: Generations
Picard’s Secret Crush
Just how deep DOES this crush go? Guinan describes the Nexus thusly, “It was like being inside joy. As if joy was something tangible and you could wrap yourself up in it like a blanket, and never in my entire life have I ever been as content.”
Kirk finds himself reliving his days with Antonia. Picard finds himself in Chateau Picard with his wife and children. So WHY is the woman that brings him so much joy and contentment Ensign Brooks and not Doctor Crusher, not Vash, not Lt. Commander Nella Daren (“Lessons” S6 Ep19), nor even Eline (his wife from “The Inner Light”).
What off-screen romance did Ensign Brooks and Captain Picard have together that she of all his paramours wins the prize as the woman he would be most happy and content with?
Picard called his wife Elise. Elise must be Janet’s middle name.
This one has bothered me since I saw Generations in theaters. Why bring back actress Kim Braden to play Elise Picard in the Nexus? I understand that having Beverly Crusher as the dream wife could have been confusing to some movie goers. But Berman and Co. could’ve got Jennifer Hetrick (Vash) or Wendy Hughes (Daren) to play the Nexus wife just as easily.
