The Enchanted Squeezebox of Yankovick the Bard

This colorful instrument breathes with fey magic. Its bellows shimmer with shifting runes, and its notes carry warmth that mends the body and spirit. As the bard’s power grows, so too does the accordion’s magic.

Base Features (all levels)

Instrument of the Skald. While attuned, you gain proficiency with the accordion (if you don’t already have it).

Melodic Inspiration. When you grant Bardic Inspiration, the target also gains temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier.

Resonant Voice. When you use the accordion to cast a spell with a verbal component, its range increases by 10 feet (does not stack with other range increases).

Thaumaturgic Notes. You can cast Thaumaturgy at will, but only for sound-related effects (voice amplification, harmless rumble, altering sounds).

Battle Hymn (1/day)
As an action, play a rousing or haunting tune. Choose one:

  • Rallying March. Allies within 30 ft. who can hear you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus.
  • Dread Dirge. Enemies within 30 ft. who can hear you must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of your next turn.

Scaling Power by Level Tier
Tier 1 (Levels 1–4) — Uncommon

  • Song of Mending. As an action, restore 1d6 + CHA mod hit points to one creature within 30 ft. (1/day).
  • Soothing Harmony. During a short rest, creatures who hear you regain +1d6 HP from Hit Dice.
  • Battle Hymn (see above).

Tier 2 (Levels 5–10) — Rare
Accordion gains 3 charges. Spend charges to cast:
Healing Word (1 charge, 2nd level)
Lesser Restoration (2 charges)

  • Song of Mending Upgrade. Now restores 2d6 + CHA mod HP, usable 2 times per long rest.
  • Soothing Harmony Upgrade. Increases to +2d6 HP.
  • Battle Hymn DC increases to 15.

Tier 3 (Levels 11–16) — Very Rare
Accordion gains +5 charges. Spend charges to cast:
Mass Healing Word (3 charges)
Greater Restoration (5 charges)

  • Song of Mending Upgrade. Restores 3d6 + CHA mod HP to up to two creatures.
  • Soothing Harmony Upgrade. Increases to +3d6 HP.
  • Battle Hymn DC increases to 16.

Tier 4 (Levels 17–20) — Legendary
Accordion gains +7 charges. Spend charges to cast:
Heal (6 charges)
Mass Cure Wounds (5 charges)
Resurrection (7 charges)

  • Song of Mending Upgrade. Restores 4d6 + CHA mod HP to up to three creatures.
  • Soothing Harmony Upgrade. Increases to +4d6 HP.
  • Battle Hymn DC increases to 17.

Optional Feature: Overwhelming Harmony (Tier 4 only)

Once per long rest, unleash a powerful symphony. All allies within 30 ft. regain 4d8 + CHA mod hit points and end one condition (charmed, frightened, or stunned).
