We can assume that Neelix’s scrapyard contains mostly debris from Delta Quadrant ships as the Caretaker hasn’t (as far as we know) been pulling Alpha Quadrant ships to the Delta Quadrant left and right. Yet through some quirk of subspace physics, eight months after Neelix has laid claim to his scrapyard, the debris from a single, destroyed, Cardassian ship in the Alpha Quadrant aligns itself identically with Neelix’s scrapyard. Right down to size, shape, and placement of the identical pieces.
