On January 14, 2026 a new building appeared on Roku’s City Scroll screensaver. (Updated 02/02/2026)
When Dan H. first alerted me to the new building, the building had not appeared on my local scroll. Dan sent me this image.

However, when the same building showed up on my feed, I didn’t think a local NBC affiliate would pay to have their station used on the Nationwide Roku feed, with weather local to the viewing region. SO I did some digging. There are quite a few Channel 6’s that use this font. (Big project tacking them down. I’d appreciate any help). Also if Cord Cutter is to believed this will be a permanent fixture to the neighborhood.
Arthur B. points out the WRGB out Schenectady/Albany NY is the oldest continually operating TV Station in America and their logo DOES use this 6 font.

Some other potential Channel 6 references could be:

Steven M wonders if Roku City’s Channel 6 is a nod to the fictional WPBH-9 Station that Bill Murray’s character worked for in Groundhog Day.

So, I’m curious. Does Roku City Channel 6 have your local weather (send pics)? Do you have a Channel 6 in your area? Does your local Channel 6 use this font? I don’t think the new TV Studio is anything more than an homage to The Simpsons, Saints Row, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but it is interesting how many local stations Channel 6 use the dame font and stylized 6.

Channel 6s that have local weather on the Roku neighborhood but use a different font (as submitted by readers)

It looks like CW6 is, or at least was, XETV-TV.

it no longer exists. It’s now a subchannel of KFMB 8

I believe the weather is local to the viewer, mine has the weather for the town I live in. I also think the channel 6 reference is for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Portland Oregon also has KOIN NEWS 6.
& its cold and cloudy but not raining at the moment here. Hope that helps!

The weather appears local.
My guess would be that if the 6 refers to a real world station, it would be WRGB Schenectady— the oldest US TV station still in operation.
