Waxing Nostalgic – What I Miss about the defunct RPG Bloggers Alliance

Not my actual setup in 2009 but awful darn close.

I hit 59 this month. I’ve been nostalgic about a lot of things recently. One of them was the Old RPG Bloggers Network ca.2009 (forerunner of the RPG Bloggers Alliance), though I’m trying to renew my TTRPG blogging efforts, the sense of community is different. Some things have changed, a few things have remained the same. What’s changed? well if I’m honest most things have changed. Social Media has passed me by. I’m still on Facebook, I still Tweet (Xeet?) though not on the same account (and probably not as frequently as I should). I’m trying to Discord (Vulcan_Stev vulcanstev0270) but there doesn’t seem to be a place where everyone gathers. I don’t have TicTok. I prefer to read articles rather than watch a video. I’m not sure about SnapChat or Instagram. My Pinterest account lays dormant. Where do you recommend I head? Or am I just an older Gen Xer who’s just trying to recapture the glory days of when the world made sense?

I’m glad that Scot over at of Dice and Dragons is keeping the Blog Carnival up and running. It is helping me connect (I’d say reconnect but I haven’t seen any indication that any of the blogs I followed in 2009 are still up and running). There’s interesting stuff still being homebrewed out there. What are some blogs I need to check out?

I miss the comments from regular readers. Xhosa, Dr. Checkmate, Hank, Newbie DM, Greywulf, Uncle Bear… Are any of you still online and reading this blog?

I miss the Bloggers Alliance RSS feed. I’d love to have a daily update of what everyone is working on.

I miss the Impromtweets – Mini Blog Carnivals based off of an Alliance member’s random inspiration Tweet for the day, Like the Five Bullywugs Named Steve

I miss the interaction perhaps it’s true that you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Where do the RPG bloggers hang out?

Some things I’d like to try and restart:
The RPG Bloggers Campaign World as hosted by Newbie DM in 2009. I can’t find any mention of it beyond April 2009 (my life online and in reality began imploding later that year)
Impromtweets
I’d like to add an RPG blog RSS feed back to the frontpage
Mini Blog Carnivals that would require maybe just a sentence or two to participate
Blog Libs (I ask for various words or phrases and incorporate them into a story)
Christmas in July. Requests from readers for new items in Nevets Ye Olde Shoppe of Magicks

Anyone willing to try an restart these with me?
