Wow! Where did May go? I won’t bore you with my month, just suffice it to say, it’s been busy. This month, I asked the Carnival participants to share what inspires them.
Here’s what everyone had to say.
Sean over at Sea of Stars waxes eloquently about his non-fiction inspirations with his article entitled Inspiration! To quote from the article, “The world around us, and its history, is weirder, wilder, and more complex than almost anything we can imagine.“
Well said Sean, well said.
Xaosseed at Seed of Worlds pours blood, sweat, and tears in this offering entitled The Hard Graft of Inspiration-On-Demand Xaosseed gives us points to remember about Edison’s quote, “Genius is 1% Inspiration, 99% Perspiration”.
1. Have your tools ready to catch the sparks
2. Get from zero to something, because you can work with something.
3. Stand on something
4. Sketch out your structure if you risk interruption
5. Save all your ideas
And then expounds on each point.
Christian at Advantage on Arcana squeaks in just under the deadline with his offering of Appendix N.5: This Time With Feeling. Christian then launches into a well-thought out college class paper not just what inspires him but what inspiration actually is in the broader sense of the word.
I’m going to need to re-read this one at least once more just to absorb all of it.
My own offering was admittedly a little scattered as I list my sources of inspiration, wrote a limerick, and then offered up a set of NPCS based off a group of Mystery Hunters that I’ve watched since their debut on CBS in 1969. Read all about the Mysterians in my article.
If your May resembled mine in any form you probably arrived on the 31st and asked yourself WHERE the month went. I’ll keep the submissions window open for a bit and let you finish your article for the May 2026 Carnival.
